--Iran’s six-month petroleum products exports rose 40%

Iran has reported a major surge in the value of its petroleum products exports in the first half of the calendar year 1401 which began in late March.
Hamid Hosseini, board director at Iran’s Association of Oil Products Exporters, said on Wednesday that exports of products manufactured in the downstream section of the Iranian petroleum sector had amounted to some $15 billion in the six months to September 22.

-- Iran, Qatar discuss transport ties ahead of World Cup

A senior Iranian government minister held discussions with his counterpart Jassim bin Said Al Sulaiti to increase transport ties with the Arab country just ahead of the World Cup 2022 tournament in Qatar.
Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Qassemi arrived in the Qatari capital Doha early on Thursday to hold meetings with senior government officials.

-- Kharg, coral island in the Persian Gulf

Kharg Island, also known as Khark, is a coral island formed in the Persian Gulf. It is located 38 kilometers from Bandar Genaveh, about 70 kilometers west of Bushehr, the southern province of Bushehr. This historical Island is eight kilometers long and four kilometers wide and is positioned in the heart of the sea. Today, about 8,000 local people live there. Takht Mountain is located in the north of Kharg Island, and Gardan Oshtor Mountain in its south, visitiran.ir reported.
In terms of economics, Kharg Island is one of the main centers of oil production and processing in Iran. That is why more than 90 percent of the island has been allocated to oil companies and their terminals. In addition to oil, the pearls of Kharg Island have always been famous as well. -- Iranian Women Don’t Want Caretakers

Iranian envoy to the UN has condemned certain Western states for politicizing the issue of women’s rights, stressing that Iranian women know how to peacefully engage with government and are in no need of caretaker.
Speaking at Thursday’s UN Security Council Open Debate on Women, Peace, and Security, Iran’s deputy permanent representative to the United Nations Zahra Ershadi slammed West’s efforts to politicize the issue of women’s rights in Iran.
“I would like to respond to certain Western countries that have misused this chamber to make unfounded allegation against my country while claiming the support the right of Iranian women,” she said.

-- Iran’s Minister in Qatar to Discuss Transport Ties

Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development (MRUD) Rostam Qasemi has travelled to Qatar to discuss increased transport ties with the Arab country just ahead of the World Cup 2022 tournament in Qatar.
Qasemi arrived in the Qatari capital Doha early on Thursday to hold meetings with senior government officials.
Ghassemi discussed initiatives between Iran and Qatar to better handle civil aviation and maritime transport issues during the one-month World Cup event that starts in Qatar on November 21.

-- Iranian Greco-Roman Wrestlers Win U-23 World Championships

Iran claimed the title of the U-23 World Greco-Roman Championships in Spain. Iran won the team title with 138 points, 37 points more than second-placed Georgia. Turkey jumped over Azerbaijan to finish third with 93 points.
Danial Sohrabi won the third gold medal of Iran by winning the 67kg weight class. Iran’s Pouya Dadmarz at 55kg and Iman Muhammadi at 63kg had previously won two gold medals. Ali Akbar Yousefi at 130kg, Amir Abdi at 72kg and Ali Abedi at 97kg also won three bronze medals. The competition was held in Pontevedra, Spain.

-- Persian-language drama “Winners” represents UK at Oscar intl. feature section 

The Persian-language drama “Winners” by Iranian-British director Hassan Nazer has been selected by the British Academy as the UK’s submission to the international feature award at the 2023 Oscars. Supported by Scottish public body Creative Scotland, the film was shot entirely in Iran with an all-Persian-language cast, including Reza Naji, the winner of the Berlinale Silver Bear for “The Song of Sparrows”. Speaking to the Persian service of ISNA on Thursday, Naji said, “The director of ‘Winners’ is an Iranian who lives abroad; his film seems to be able to communicate to audiences of every language.”

-- Iran, Venezuela ink MOU to co-op in auto industry

Iranian automakers have inked a memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Venezuela’s Transport Ministry to collaborate in the development of the South American country’s auto industry, IRIB reported. The MOU was signed on Thursday, during a meeting between Venezuelan Minister of Transport Ramón Velásquez and representatives of major Iranian automakers.

Speaking in this meeting, Velásquez referred to the successful experience of an Iranian car sales festival on the sidelines of the Iran-Venezuela technology exhibition, saying that Iranian products have been welcomed by the people of his country.

-- Iranian artisan wins at Intl. Handicrafts Awards

Iranian artisan Mohammad-Ali Vadood, whose area of expertise is woodwork, has won the award for the Craftsperson of the Year at the 6th edition of India’s International Handicrafts Awards (ICA).

The award ceremony will be held in New Delhi last week on the occasion of India Craft Week, the organizers, announced on the event’s official website. Ramtiniwaiti binti Ramlee from Malaysia was named the Female Craftsperson of the Year, while Ambika Devi and Venkat Raman Shyam, both from India, received the awards for Master Artisan of the Year (Female) and Master Artisan of the Year (Male), respectively.
