-- Iran starts refining its crude oil in Venezuela: Oil minister
A first oil refinery processing Iranian crude oil outside of the country has started operations, according to a statement by the Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji, who says the project in Venezuela will be replicated in other parts of the world.
Owji said that Iran had started processing some 100,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude produced in Iranian oilfields in Venezuela’s El Palito refinery.
-- Tehran, Managua discuss expansion of ties
In an online meeting between Iranian Energy Minister Ali-Akbar Mehrabian and senior Nicaraguan officials, both sides called for the expansion of ties in various fields.
In the virtual meeting with Nicaragua’s Minister of Finance Ivan Adolfo Acosta Montalvan and Laureano Ortega, who advises the Nicaraguan government on foreign investments, Mehrabian expressed Iran’s readiness for holding the next meeting of the two countries’ joint economic committee.
-- Ardebil Archaeological Museum: A must-see place
Anyone who wants to know more about the history of sculpting in Iran is recommended to visit Ardebil Archaeological Museum in the northwestern province of Ardebil. The museum, which was built in two stories in 2008, next to the Mausoleum of Sheikh Safieddin Ardebili, showcases a number of 7,000-year-old statues and 3,000-year-old rhytons, a roughly conical container from which holy fluids were drunk.
The monument represents the Safavid architectural style, said Elnaz Hobbi, an expert from the museum. She added that all artifacts displayed in the museum including weapons, pottery, figurines, documents and coins, were discovered during archeological excavations carried out in the province.

-- Iranian Youths Win 13 Asian Track and Field Championship Medals
The Iranian athletes participating in the 2022 Kuwait Asian Track and Field Championship (October 12-15) ended winning 13 medals.
On the last day of the competitions, on Sunday, October 16, Elaheh Alizadeh threw the hammer 14.92 meters, breaking the Iranian national records in her age group, to rank 3rd and win a bronze medal.
In the athletics seven field, Elnaz Musie gained 3,797 points to rank 3rd and win the bronze medal.
-- Iran Agrees to Revive Oil Swap Deal With Kazakhstan
Iran has also agreed to resume an oil swap deal with Kazakhstan some 10 years after the deal stalled due to technical and political problems.
Iranian Petroleum Ministry has reported that a final agreement had been reached on the restoration of the oil swap deal between Iran and Kazakhstan during a visit by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to the Kazakh capital of Astana, earlier this week.

The team in the ten-meter rifle match, comprised of Haniyeh Rostamian, Golnoosh Sebghatollahi, and Mina Ghorbani beat Mongolia 16-14 to win the world championship’s bronze medal.
The 2022 ISSF Shooting World Championship Rifle/Pistol kicked off on Thursday, October 13, 2022, hosted by Cairo, Egypt, in two age groups of youth and adults until October 25. The event marks the first step of the 2024 Paris Olympic quota distribution tournament through the World Championships, where the first four athletes of each field will be authorized to partake in the Olympics.

-- Iranian children’s films on verge of “extinction”: Farabi Cinema Foundation
Director of Iran’s Farabi Cinema Foundation has warned about the lack of children’s films what he views as “the extinction of children’s and young adult cinema.” Speaking to the managers of several children’s educational centers on Sunday, Mehdi Javadi said, “For a long time, we have not cultivated anything in children’s cinema, therefore there is nothing to harvest.”
“A friend has said that we are approaching the extinction of children’s and young adult cinema; if we contemplate the comment well, we see it is not far from the reality,” he added.
-- Foes failed to drag Iran into civil war like Syria, Libya: military advisor
The alertness of the people has thwarted foes’ plots to incite all-out violence in Iran like Syria and Libya, the military advisor to the commander-in-chief said on Sunday. “Didn’t enemies want to mire us in a war like Syria, Libya, Yemen, Iraq and Afghanistan? They want to do it even now, but why they failed? Because we have been, and continue to be, ready and vigilant,” Amir Hatami said, Press TV reported.
Speaking at a military ceremony, Hatami added, “When they want to impose a war on a country, they make calculations first, and if it is not in their benefit, they won’t start a war.” Hatami, who was defense minister from 2017-2021, insisted on the importance of science and technology to establish security.
-- Diplomats from Latin America tour Qazvin attractions
On Sunday, a group of diplomats from Spain, Cuba, Chile, Uruguay, and Brazil visited tourist attractions in Qazvin province, the provincial tourism chief has said.
Sardar Bozorg Water Reservoir, Jameh Mosque of Qazvin, Ali Qapu Gate, Aminiha Hosseiniyeh, Cantor Church, Chehel Sotun Palace, and Qazvin Museum were among the destinations visited by the diplomats, Alireza Khazaeli said.
Qazvin was once the capital of the mighty Persian Empire, under Safavids, from 1548 to 98. It is a major tourist destination with a wonderfully restored caravanserai-turned-arts precinct, some quirky museums, and a handful of decent eating options.
