Esmaili has been in Mauritania since January 6 to participate in the ceremony.
During his visit to the northwest African country, the Iranian minister of culture held talks with Mauritanian President Mohamed Ghazouani.
The talks focused on ways to widen relations among Islamic, Arab, and African states.
Esmaili noted that African, Arab, and Islamic countries have good potential for having new interactions.
He went on to say that holding talks with his counterparts in the Islamic states on the sidelines of the ceremony in Mauritania is a good opportunity for fostering cultural ties between Iran and Islamic countries.
He further described Iran’s rich culture as an important tool for deepening Islamic Republic’s diplomacy.
For his part, the Mauritanian president appreciated the Islamic Republic for its stable and principled stance on the issues related to the World of Islam.
Ghazouani said development of cultural, economic, and political relations between his country and Iran would be strategic and important.
Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) has introduced Nouakchott as the Culture Capital of the Islamic World for 2023.
