Iran says will continue contacts with all sides in Afghanistan

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said on Tuesday that Iran will continue its contacts with all parties in Afghanistan.

Speaking during a joint press conference after a meeting in Tehran with his Pakistani counterpart Mehmood Qureshi, he noted that Iran's security consultations with the Afghan interim government are underway.

"We are closely monitoring the developments in Afghanistan and believe that formation of an inclusive government with the participation of all the ethnicities in Afghanistan is the most significant political solution before us," Amirabdollahian said.

He also noted that Iran will make use of the capacity of all its border crossings with Afghanistan to send and facilitate humanitarian supplies into the country.

Amirabdollahian believed that accelerating the dispatch of humanitarian aids from other countries into Afghanistan on the eve of the cold snap will lower the peak of refugees flowing to neighboring countries.

The foreign minister said that Iran and Pakistan have agreed to send a unified message for the Afghan people, the global community, and the interim government in Afghanistan in a meeting of foreign ministers of Afghan neighbors slated for tomorrow in Tehran.
