The heads of Iran and Tajikistan governments met on Saturday in Dushanbe, where Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit was held and Iran was approved to be a permanent member of the regional organization.
In the meeting, Raisi and Rahmon pointed to religion, culture, and language as common elements between Iranian and Tajik nations and expressed hope to open a new season in the ties and cooperation of the two countries in economy, culture and politics.
The Iranian president said that the two countries have proper capacities to expand bilateral ties, noting that boosting interactions would also pave the way for elevation of regional cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan.
Raisi urged the officials of both countries to have regular meetings and talks to establish a stable multilateral relationship between two nations.
The Tajik president thanked Raisi for accepting his invitation to attend the SCO summit and to visit Tajikistan on his first foreign trip as president.
Rahmon said that the amity and intimacy between the governments and people of Iran and Tajikistan could be a proper ground to elevate cooperation level and boost bilateral ties.
