FM: Iran’s foreign ministry to pursue Soleimani’s assassination

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that the Foreign Ministry would pursue the assassination of late General Qasem Soleimani through legal and international law channels.

Amir-Abdollahian who has traveled to Iraq on his first foreign trip to take part in Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership paid tribute to General Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the commander of Hashd al-Shaabi.

Soleimani, al-Muhandis, and a number of their companions were assassinated by the US Army at the direct order of former US President Donald Trump in January 2020.

Amir-Abdollahian noted that Iran’s Foreign Ministry under his management would follow up the case in both legal and international aspects to hold the US government accountable for the terrorist act.

The US government cannot avoid the consequences of the assassination under the pretext of the fact that the killing was done by the former administration, he underlined.
