Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks prior to his flight to Baghdad.
Speaking about Baghdad regional summit slated for August 28, the foreign minister said Iran believes that Syria an important neighbor of Iraq should have been invited to the summit.
He went on to say that Iran has consultations and communications with Syria on regional security and sustainable development.
Tehran will have direct consultation with Damascus about Baghdad summit and regional countries' important role, Amir-Abdollahian noted.
In a related development, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein had already said that the issue of Syria is controversial and not in the hand of Iraq.
He has also said that Iraq has good ties with Syria and has never cut its diplomatic ties with the neighbor.
Iraq has announced that the aim behind holding Baghdad summit is decreasing tension in the region, developing economic relations, and solving dispute among Iraq's neighboring states.
