COMSTECH Prize awarded to Iran's Amirkabir University of Technology professor

Tehran, Nov 1, IRNA – Sajjad Jafari, a member and professor of the faculty of medicine engineering of Amirkabir University of Technology, in a joint project with a Moroccan mathematician, was awarded COMSTECH Prize in mathematics.

The prize is periodically awarded to scientists in Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (O.I.C)  in the branches of mathematics, physics, biology and chemistry every four years.

COMSTECH is an abbreviation for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation for the promotion and cooperation of science and technology activities among the OIC member states.

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, formerly the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, is an international organization founded in 1969, consisting of 57 member states, with a collective population of over 1.8 billion as of 2015 with 53 countries being Muslim-majority countries.
