Talking to IRNA on the sidelines of 15th session of the COMSTECH General Assembly in Islamabad, Iyad bin Amin Madani said that OIC values the role of all its members especially those like the Isalmic Republic of Iran that has a much wider and stronger scientific base compared to the other member satates of the organization.
OIC was stablished to foster cooperation unity, understanding, building common interests and countering common challenges among the members states which represent the Islamic ummah around the globe.
He described poverty and lack of sustainable development as major challenges against many members states of OIC. “Sustainable development, eradication of poverty, building a better future and creating hope for our future generation are among the most important goals of OIC.”
“Terrorism is another main challenge many OIC members are facing but it is a passing phenomenon.”
Responding to a question if he has a plan to visit Iran in near future, the secretary general said because of upcoming month or holy Rmadhan, he is not planning to visit any country and also so far, there is no planned visit to Tehran.
