Airman's self-immolation "voice of awakened consciences" in US: Iran spox

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani has termed the voice of Aaron Bushnell as the loud voice of awakened consciences in the US against the government's complicity in the Palestinian genocide by the Zionist regime.

In reaction to the self-immolation of a US airman, Kanaani wrote in Farsi on social media platform X on Tuesday that the self-immolation of Aaron Bushnell in protest against the continuation of Zionist crimes in Gaza showed how much the awakened consciences in the US are ashamed of the support of the US government in the genocide of the Palestinians.

He added that Bushnell's cries are the loud voices of awakened consciences in the US against that government's complicity in the genocide of the Palestinians.

On Sunday, Aaron Bushnell, a US airman, set himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy in Washington DC to vent his anger at his country’s support for Israel's brutal war on Gaza.

A video posted on social media shows Bushnell walking up to the driveway of the Israeli embassy, setting his phone down on the ground, and pouring an unknown liquid from a bottle over himself. He then ignited it while yelling "Free Palestine" repeatedly.
