As many as 8,321 important cyberattacks against the country’s infrastructure network were repelled in the year 1401, Amir Mohammadzadeh-Lajevardi announced via social media.
Iran’s infrastructure has come under countless cyberattacks and hacking attempts in recent years. The number of attacks peaked in the aftermath of foreign-backed riots erupted across the country in September last year.
In January, Mohammadzadeh-Lajevardi said the TIC’s experts had foiled a wave of cyberattacks targeting the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) and two domestic messaging applications – “Rubika” and “Bale”.
“These days, the largest volume of foreign attacks is directed at banks and financial institutions, internet providers and communications infrastructure, which have been repelled,” Lajevardi tweeted on January 6.
