-- Pirazmian: A mysterious ancient site
Pirazmian is an archeological site, located 1.5km from a village with the same name in Meshginshahr, the northwestern province of Ardebil. Also known as Shahr-e Yeri, extending in an area of over 200 hectares, the site has three parts: A temple, a cemetery and a castle or military fortress.
The results of the excavations carried out in the region show that the three parts were not built at the same time. It is more likely that the castle, of which nothing is left except its stone foundation, is newer than the other two parts.
Some archeologists believe that the site could belong to semi-nomadic societies of the first period of human civilization, also known as the hunter-gatherer societies.
