Hojjatollah Ayyubi who was speaking at the opening ceremony of the UNESCO International Pure Medical, and Human Feeding Sciences Center at Medical Sciences University of Mashad said that Iran is one of the most advanced regional countries in medical sciences with international fame, as the international award for ethics in sciences, too, is registered in the name of the renowned Iranian physician, Avicenna.
“By launching the International UNESCO Regional Center in Iran the ground will be paved for Iran’s broader scientific activities at the international scenes, and particularly in regional countries, as the only UNESCO center acting in medical sciences field in the region is now in Mashhad, and as a first step, the Conference on Ethics in Medical Sciences, too, will be held in this university,” he reiterated.
7,000 foreign students studying in Iranian medical science universities
Deputy health minister for international affairs, too, said in the opening ceremony that currently 7,000 foreign students are studying in various Iranian medical science universities.
Mohammad Amirkhani added that the international students’ share in Iranian medical science universities is still very low, and by further fortifying the required infrastructures at those universities the number of foreign applicants for them, too, will increase respectively.
“Iran’s capabilities in health field are internationally renowned, but we must attend the international scientific fields after having worthy achievements in the field, and in order to reach that end the required infrastructures need to be provided,” said Amirkhani.
Mashad University of Medical Sciences’ scientific board rich and strong with 950 professors
Head of the Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, too, said at the ceremony that relations with international organizations plays and important role in upgrading the scientific level of the country, and UNSCO is among the organizations that can well help this university and Iran is achieving great scientific objectives.
Mohammad Ali Kiani informed the audience at the ceremony that Mashad University of Medical Sciences is proud to have a strong scientific board that is rich with 950 professors, which has enabled that university to have appropriate capacities at the international scenes.
The UNESCO Medical Center in Iran is the first center of that international body within the Iranian Health, Remedy, and Medical Training Ministry.
Mashad Medical Science University, with its 10,000 students and 25,000 scientific, medical and health personnel, too is the most important medical hub in northeast Iran.
