Iran's envoy to Afghanistan meets with Abdullah, Karzai

Kabul, IRNA - The press office of Afghanistan’s Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation Abdullah Abdullah, announced on Wednesday that they have discussed the stability and security of Afghanistan with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The press office issued a statement and said that they have discussed the stability and security of Afghanistan with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding that former Afghan President Hamid Karzai also emphasized creating a system based on the will of the people of Afghanistan.

The meeting emphasized that there should be a military force in Afghanistan that has national and international legitimacy, the statement said.

Based on a peace agreement between Taliban and Washington signed in February, the US and its allies withdrew from Afghanistan in the recent weeks after two decades of occupation.

Following the pullout, Taliban group managed to take control of almost the entire country, including Kabul, the capital.
