Iran, Spain highlight media cooperation

Madrid, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador in Spain Hassan Qashqavi paid a visit to the Spanish state news agency EFE on Wednesday and met the new president of the agency Gabriela Cañas, discussing boosting cooperation on the media area.

Pointing to the good relations between Iran and Spain during different periods in history and the long-lasting friendly ties between Iran’s Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) and Spain’s EFE, Qashqavi highlighted the role of the media in explaining developments in international arena and directing the public opinion.

He opined that the Western media general aren’t willing to analyze the international realities and developments.

The Ambassador emphasized the necessity of revising and updating the memorandum of understanding signed between IRNA and EFE to boost cooperation and interaction.

In her turn, Ms. Cañas praised the efforts to facilitate establishment of EFE’s office in Tehran, expressing preparedness to update the MoU.

She also criticized the Western politicians and media for the ignoring of some regional developments, including the situation in Afghansitan.
