Senior commander underlines absolute security in eastern borders

Birjand, IRNA – A senior military commander has underlined absolute security in Iran's eastern security amid recent developments in Afghanistan and assured that there are no security issues threatening people living in border areas.

Speaking to IRNA, Brigadier Mahmood Mahmoodi said there is no issue for people in South Khorasan Province.

The situation in the international level, both across the region and in West Asia especially in Afghanistan is clear too all in face of internal conflicts between government and Taliban, he added.

Taliban is also triggering fresh developments in common borders with Iran, he noted.

He noted that Iranian military forces are ready not only for the current situation but to control the entire regional condition including fighting terrorist groups like ISIS, takfirist and the trans-regional forces.

Earlier, addressing the Intra-Afghan talks meeting which was hosted in Tehran, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said returning to intra-Afghan negotiating table will be the best choice of leaders and political parties in Afghanistan and urged Afghan leaders and people of Afghanistan to make hard decision for their future.

Zarif stressed that Iran is ready to help negotiation process between Afghan parties to solve disputes and crises in Afghanistan.

He also reiterated Iran's commitment to foster political, economic, and social development of Afghanistan after establishing peace.
