Al-Maliki warns against repercussions of US warmongering

Baghdad, May 11, IRNA - Former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki in a statement on Friday warned the US about its provocative and warmongering measures against Iran.

Al-Maliki also called for ending crisis through dialogue and avoiding the use of force under current juncture.

“Escalation of military threats and beating drums of war in the region as well as implicative threats for military confrontation and economic sanctions by the US against the neighboring states contravenes international norms and will have dangerous consequences,” he said.

Referring to the hazardous repercussions of such policies for all the regional nations, especially the Iranian and Iraqi nations, he said that they will bring about new waves of violence at a time when the regional nations need peace, stability and economic development more than ever.

“Using force and economic sanctions against the neighboring Iran is flagrant violation of international regulations and an act against an independent Muslim country which does not surrender to bullying,” he said.

Al-Maliki also called on the international organizations to help defuse the explosive device which may set the entire region on fire.
