Serious competition is taking place in the poll between Saudi Arabian al-Qahtani and Daei. Until the very moment, Daei 48% and al-Qahtani 44% allocated the total vote to themselves.
Ali Daei (Iran)
No player in football history has scored more than Daei. He is the world's leading goal scorer with 109 goals, and eight goals in 1996 Asian Cup qualifier, making him the top scorer for those matches. He scored three more goals in the 2000 Lebanon Asian Cup, and became the best scorer in the Asian Cup four years later with 2 goals in China.
Yasser al-Qahtani (Saudi Arabia)
After winning the 1996 title, Saudi Arabia didn’t get any title until al-Qahtani came to the pitch, who helped Saudi Arsenal to the final in 2007. Al-Qahtani, along with Mahmoud, became the best scorer in the competition. He was the best player in Asia for his excellent performance that year.
