According to the seismological center affiliated to Tehran University Geophysics Institute, the quake occurred at 4:29 hours local time (00:59 GMT).
The epicenter of the quake was registered at 38.58 degrees latitude and 48.56 degrees longitude and it happened in the depth of 8 km underground.
The Managing director of the crisis management office of Ardebil province said that there have been no reports on the possible casualties of the earthquake.
