Four Zionist officers killed in southern Gaza battles

Tehran, IRNA – Four Zionist officers have been killed during the latest ground battles with Palestinian resistance fighters in the southern Gaza Strip, media reports have said.

Palestine’s Sama News, citing Israeli media outlets, reported on Sunday that the four officers had been killed in clashes in the city of Khan Yunis a day earlier.

The report follows a statement issued on Saturday by Izz al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas Resistance Movement.

Al-Qassam said in its statement that its fighters had killed 14 Zionist soldiers during ground battles in two separate locations in Khan Yunis.

The group said that nine soldiers were killed in az-Zanna district in eastern Khan Younis, the rest were killed in clashes in the west of the city.

At least 260 Israeli soldiers have been killed since the start of the ground offensive in Gaza on October 27, according to Israeli media citing the regime’s military.

Palestinian resistance groups however say that the figure is much higher as the regime hides the real number of its military casualties amid public anger at the cabinet of Benjamin Netanyahu over its failure to release Israeli captives held in Gaza.

Hamas has time and again announced its readiness to release the captives as part of a truce deal which the resistance movement says should lead to a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the withdrawal of the Israeli military from the territory, among others.

Prime Minister Netanyahu has so far refused to accept Hamas’ conditions, drawing anger from the Israeli public.
