Kata'ib Hezbollah: US attacks on Iraq show brutality of Washington's leaders

Tehran, IRNA – Kata'ib Hezbollah has described the US attacks on Iraq as a sign of the brutality of Washington's leaders.

Regarding the US military attack on Iraq, Kata'ib Hezbollah of Iraq said on Saturday that the US military attacks and crimes are rooted in the brutality of the American politicians.

To achieve their desires and interests, they resort to occupying countries, looting their resources, humiliating their people, it added.

The attack on our forces in Al-Qa'im and the brutality of the US is not surprising because this is the same country that destroyed cities in Japan and continues to sponsor atrocities in Gaza, Kata'ib Hezbollah noted.

United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Saturday morning that American warplanes had targeted 85 positions in Syria and Iraq using more than 125 precision munitions in response to the killing of three soldiers in the northeast of Jordan.

Iraqi resistance groups condemned the US airstrikes, with the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), better known as Hashd al-Sha’abi said in a statement that the US bombardment constituted a flagrant violation of the Iraqi sovereignty, as it targeted sites belonging to state security institutions.

“These attacks violated the sovereignty and aimed to weaken the Baghdad government to establish stability in the country, " Yahya Rasool, the spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces said.

The Iraqi government also denounced the act of aggression, emphasizing that the US-led coalition has exceeded the mandate and powers assigned to it and has become a threat to the security and stability of Iraq. Baghdad also summoned the charge d'affaires of the Washington embassy to lodge an official protest against the US aggression.

Syria also condemned the attacks on its soil, saying the US targeted areas where the country’s military and its allies have been fighting with the remnants of the Daesh terror group. Damascus said the attacks showed that the US, which itself maintains its illegal military presence, is colluding with terrorists in Syria.
