“In fact, the United States forcibly leads some countries toward itself, the small and weak countries will have to accompany them, and based on this, such a group cannot be called a coalition,” Irani told IRNA in an interview, referring to the US-led maritime coalition in the Red Sea.
“Basically, we consider the American naval fleet in the Red Sea an unjustified force and we do not consider their accompanying group as a coalition,” the commander said.
In December, the US said it was assembling a naval coalition in the Red Sea for what it called safeguarding commercial traffic from the Yemeni armed forces, which have been attacking Israeli-linked ships in the strategic waterway in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza since mid-November.
Admiral Irani maintained that regional countries themselves have the capability to secure the waters of West Asia, inducing the Red Sea.
He pointed out that a request by regional countries is a requirement for the presence of foreign forces in the region, adding that neither regional countries nor the United Nations have made such a request from the United States.
“Contrary to what the Americans claim that their presence will create security, it must be noted that their presence has completely challenged and disrupted the security of the region,” the commander said.
The Bay of Pigs is located on the southern coast of Cuba in the Caribbean region. Cuba and other Caribbean countries share a common maritime border with the southeastern US state of Florida. The majority of drug smuggling into the United States happens through that region in the Caribbean.
