Israeli police attack, detain anti-Netanyahu protesters

Tehran, IRNA- Israeli police have cracked down on a demonstration against Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday night that was staged by families of captives to demand the prime minister to get them released from the captivity of Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.

According to an Israeli media report, the police violently dispersed the protesters and arrested several of them who had gathered to vent anger at Netanyahu's cabinet near Paris Square in the city of al-Quds city.

The families of the captives also demanded the dissolution of Netanyahu's cabinet and the holding of early elections, the report said.

The Israeli regime has been witnessing protest almost on a daily basis, with people demanding a deal to get back those who remain held in the Gaza Strip.  L

Last week, thousands of people protested in Tel Aviv against the Prime Minister and his far-right cabinet, demanding the fall of the regime and an agreement with Hamas to return the captives.

During the operation Al-Aqsa Storm, Hamas fighters captured about 240 captives, at least 27 of them are believed to have been killed in Israeli bombardments.

In late November, a short-lived 7-day truce saw more than 100 Israeli captives freed in exchange for Palestinians held illegally in Israeli jails and also allowed the delivery of much-needed humanitarian aid into Gaza.
