Prominent female professor of Persian literature Karimi dies at 92

Tehran, IRNA – Amir-Banoo Karimi, a prominent female professor of Persian literature, who specialized in classical Persian literature and the works of Saib Tabrizi passed away on December 31, 2023, at the age of 92 in the city of Sari due to complications of lung and heart failure.

Karimi was the eldest child of Iranian poet, Seyyed Karim Amiri Firuzkuhi, the spouse of Mozaher Mosaffa, an Iranian poet (1932–2019), and the mother of Ali Mosaffa, a renowned Iranian actor and filmmaker.

In 2004, Karimi was inducted into the Iranian Science and Culture Hall of Fame for her lifelong contributions to Persian studies, language, and literature.

Her works include Edition of Jawami ul-Hikayat (1974), Compilation and critique of the two editions of the Divan-i Amiri Firuzkuhi (1989), The Ghazals of Saib Tabrizi (1989), Edition of the Divan of Hakim Abdolrazagh Lahiji (1993), Critical Analysis of Hakim Sanai’s The Walled Garden of Truth (1995).
