Why does Bahrain’s Al Khalifa resort to Zionist regime?

Tehran, IRNA – An imminent visit by Head of the Zionist regime Isaac Herzog to Manama amid Bahrainis’ protests raises the question of why the Al Khalifa regime is seeking to enhance ties with the Zionists so fast.

Lebanon’s Al Akhbar published a report on the Bahraini government’s situation at domestic level and the issue of normalization of ties with the Zionist regime, writing that Isaac Herzog, Head of the Zionist regime, is scheduled to arrive in Bahrain on Sunday, and it seems that the Al Khalifa regime would treat the Bahraini citizens, who are against the Zionist regime, in a way that it behaves enemies.

Bahraini human rights activist Abdulhadi al-Khawaja has been arrested in line with the Al Khalifa regime’s policy, because he was sued on charge of “insulting a foreign government” that is Israel, the report said, adding that May Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, who previously worked as Bahrain's Minister of Culture, was sacked due to refusing to give hand to Israeli Ambassador to Manama Eitan Na'eh on July 16.

The Bahraini regime, which was on the verge of collapse and asked for Saudi intervention to suppress public uprising on February 14, 2011, seeks support by the Zionist regime and the Western states in order to find a way and guarantee its survival, because Al Khalifa does not believe in the survival of the Al Saud regime in Saudi Arabia, which is in everlasting support to stay in power.

The Zionist, Abu Dhabi and Manama regimes have significantly increased security and military cooperation, and the Zionists assist Al Khalifa in clampdown of the Bahraini people, but the collaborations create problems for the Manama regime itself and multiply Bahrainis’ protests against Bahrain-Zionist regime coordination. The security authorities in Bahrain see the opposition to Herzog’s trip as “unusual” because the head of the Zionist regime has been threatened to be killed during the visit.

The Manama regime’s attempt to normalize ties with the Zionist regime has been observed as a reaction by Al Khalifa to the ongoing crisis between the regime and the Bahraini people, when the regime tried to suffocate opponents and hold sham elections.
