“It is not clear what will satisfy them so that they will give us something in return and withdraw from their stances and take into consideration the interests of the Iranian nation,” said Seyyed Reza Sadr al-Hosseini in an interview with IRNA.
The political analyst, whose focus is on political developments in the Western Asia region, made the comments following remarks by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei earlier this week in which he rejected claims that negotiations with the United States will solve Iran’s problems.
The remarks came amid ongoing international efforts to revive a 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers four years after the United States unilaterally pulled out of the agreement and imposed sanctions on Iran.
Hosseini said the Americans do not want to accept Iran’s legitimate right to have a peaceful nuclear program nor do they want to recognize the country’s red line in nuclear talks.
Elaborating on Iran’s red lines in the talks, Hosseini said Washington will never accept that Iran continues to insist on its anti-imperialism positions while engaging in normal economic and trade ties with the rest of the world.
He said the Americans have also refused to allow Iran to develop its defense capabilities, especially when it comes to the country’s missile power or the use of drones and navy issues.
“Paying off the Americans will not cause them to respect our red lines, our national interests, and our national security,” he said.
The analyst said the US prefers Iran which is totally obedient to Washington’s demands like the situation that existed in the country before the Islamic Revolution of 1979.
“They want the conditions to return to before the victory of the Islamic Revolution so that we will not be able to take a step without gaining their permission,” said Hosseini.
