According to the Syrian Arab News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Syria issued a statement on Monday evening, emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran is capable of dealing with such difficulties and that Damascus expresses condolences to the families of victims of the flooding.
The government in Damascus expresses solidarity with brothers in the friendly country of the Islamic Republic of Iran on unfortunate reports concerning several floods in many cities and villages, which have left human and economic losses.
The Syrian ministry also wished for instant recovery of those who have been injured during the flash floods in Iran.
In the statement, the Syrian ministry also mentioned that Damascus is fully sure the Iranian government and nation are able to overcome the painful calamity.
The National Disaster Management Organization of Iran declared that the recent flooding has left 76 deaths, adding that some 16 people are still missing in different areas.
The flash floods, which began more than a week ago and still continue, have their roots in the monsoon which is a seasonal change in the direction of the prevailing, or strongest, winds of a region.
The recent floodings happened in 24 provinces, including East Azarbaijan, Isfahan, Alborz, Bushehr, Tehran, Chaharmahal-o Bakhtiari, South Khorasan, Razavi Khorasan, Khuzestan, Zanjan, Semnan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Fars, Qazvin, Qom, Kerman, Kogiluyeh and Boyerahmad, Golestan, Lorestan, Mazandaran, Markazi, Hormozgan, Hamedan, and Yazd.
A flash flood caused by heavy rains on Wednesday night killed five people and injured nine others in Imamzadeh Davood (a holy shrine), northern Tehran.
