-- Iran observes national mourning over high-rise collapse
Iran announced a day of national mourning on Sunday to honor the victims of a 10-story building collapse in the southwestern province of Khuzestan.
Khuzestan’s Governor Sadeq Khalilian said the death toll from the collapse of Metropol commercial building in the city of Abadan has now reached 29, making it one of the deadliest disasters in Iran in recent years.
-- Iranian Army capable of producing advanced fighter jets: Commander
The Iranian Army is capable of manufacturing highly advanced manned aerial vehicles and fighter jets, said a commander.
The army’s deputy for operations, Admiral Seyyed Mahmoud Mousavi, made the remarks in a televised interview commenting on a secret underground base, known as the strategic drone base 313, belonging to the Armed Force and housing a huge fleet of cutting-edge Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
--- Iranian companies to enter German market
Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) said Iranian businesspeople have held talks with 75 Germany companies to expand economic ties between the two countries.
Mir Hadi Seyyedi, an advisor to the president of the TPO, said the negotiations resulted in the signing of a number of agreements.

-- Iranian FM: Tajik President’s Visit Highly Important
Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian said the visit to Tehran by President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on Monday will provide a major impetus for the promotion of relations between the two nations that share many cultural values.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Mozaffar Husseinzadeh, Tajikistan’s deputy foreign minister, on the eve of Rahmon’s trip.
-- Businessman: Iran’s Imports of Basic Goods Via Iraq at $1.5bn
Chairman of Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce Yahya Al Es’haqhas said that Iran’s imports of basic goods from Iraq increased nearly four-fold over the year to late March.
As watching over trade between the two neighbors, Al Es’haqhas suggests that a bulk of those imports have been funded through Iraq’s energy arrears to Iran.
The official said that basic goods imports via Iraq had reached nearly $1.5 billion over the past calendar year, up from $400 million recorded in the year to March 2021.
-- Iran Women Team Ranks 3rd at IWBF Asia Oceania Championship
Iran’s national women’s wheelchair basketball team has ranked third in the Asia Oceania Zone Championships held in Thailand.
On Friday, Iran’s women’s team won a bronze medal in the competition above Thailand. Australia and Japan claimed gold and silver medals respectively. With the success, the Iranian team booked its ticket to the world competitions.

-- Annual investment in PSEEZ increases 46%
Iran’s biggest energy hub, Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ), has managed to attract 70 trillion rials (about $270.1 million) as well as €500 million of investment in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20) to register a 46 percent growth, year on year.
According to Khosro Afrouzeh, the director of economic development and investment attraction of Pars Special Economic Energy Zone Organization, the organization has been following new strategies to optimize investment processes with the aim of facilitating the investment environment and creating a smooth path for small investors and focusing on key customers.
-- Regional diplomacy to tackle SDSs
An Iranian delegation, headed by Department of Environment chief Ali Salajegheh, has embarked on a trip to Iraq, Syria, and Kuwait to resolve the problem of sand and dust storms (SDSs).
The whole country has recently been haunted by the phenomenon of severe SDSs.
The purpose of this trip is to exchange views and consensus with the Iraqi authorities in the direction of collective cooperation in the region to deal with the phenomenon, field visits to SDS centers, and review effective and immediate solutions to reduce the effects.
-- Excavations to shed new light on Sassanid maritime in ancient Siraf
Archaeologists have commenced a field survey to shed new light on the maritime heritage of the Sassanids across the ancient Siraf located on the north shore of the Persian Gulf. “These excavations will be carried out for 45 days to recognize the evidence of maritime trade and the state of the Sassanids in the historical port of Siraf,” a local official said on Sunday.
The majority of excavations will be carried out in the historical core of the port city near its Jameh mosque and ruined fortresses, Seyyed Mehdi Azarian was quoted as saying by ILNA.
