Speaking in an online meeting with the Japanese Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi on Thursday, Ashtiani emphasized the sensitivity of the status of Iran and Japan in important geopolitical regions of West and East Asia.
He evaluated the ties between Iran and Japan in the framework of peace and stability as positive and constructive.
The Iranian defense minister also said that collective cooperation between the states in the region was necessary for security and stability.
Highlighting specifications of the Persian Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz, Ashtiani elaborated Iran’s stance on the necessity of providing the security of navigation and said that the presence of foreign forces was illegitimate and detrimental to security.
The Japanese defense minister, for his part, explained the activities of Japan’s maritime fleet in the West Asia and stressed cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in ensuring navigation security.
