Iran, Turkey review latest developments in Syria

Tehran, IRNA – Senior Advisor to Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Asghar Khaji and the Director-General of the Turkish Foreign Ministry Selcuk Unal reviewed the latest developments in Syria and welcomed the sixth round of talks on the Syrian constitution.

Unal and Khaji met and held talks on the sidelines of a meeting of the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva and discussed the latest developments in Syria.

Khaji stressed the Syrian Constitutional Committee is a result of the Astana process and these talks should continue without external interference based on the will of the Syrians.

Regarding the developments in Idlib, he noted that if the agreements made in the Astana format are implemented, many problems will be resolved in Idlib.

He further noted that the permanent resolution of the Idlib problem will be to clear Idlib of armed groups and terrorists and return it to Syrian state sovereignty.

Selcuk Unal, for his part, welcomed the sixth round of talks on the Syrian constitution and expressed hope that the talks would achieve good results in the interests of the Syrians.
