Iran is pursuing banking problems students face in South Korea

Tehran, IRNA – Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Seoul said that reports on freezing bank accounts of Iranian students in South Korea stemmed from a misunderstanding between the university and KEB bank.

Iranian Embassy in Seoul held a meeting with officials of South Korean Foreign Ministry as soon as it was informed of the banking problem faced by some Iranian students in the university, the embassy told IRNA.

Concerning the reports that Iranian students received emails informing them of suspending banking services to them, the Embassy said that the Korean government investigated the issue and announced the its was stemmed from a misunderstanding between university and KEB bank.

Iran’s Embassy also underlined that the Korean government policy was not to limit banking services for Iranian students who will soon be informed of the issue via emails.

However, the Embassy stressed that it was pursuing the issue.
