Iran parliament ready for all-out cooperation with new admin.: Speaker

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has underlined that Majlis is prepared to cooperate with the president-elect in order to help resolve problems of the Iranian nation.

At the beginning of Monday public session of the parliament, Qalibaf pointed to the fact that the legislative body is determined to preserve independence of different branches of the state in the Islamic Republic, while it will assist the upcoming administration.

Ebrahim Raisi won 17,926,345 votes out of the total 28,933,004 ballots to become the 8th president of the Islamic Republic in the 13th presidential election, which was held from 7:00 a.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday.

In recent days, an important event has happened and thanks to God’s grace and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei’s wise guidance, the noble people of Iran succeeded in disappointing enemies with their turnout in the 13th presidential election on Friday, the parliament speaker noted.

Despite the fact that there has been concerns about the outbreak of the coronavirus as well as dissatisfaction because of the economic situation and high inflation, people took part in the election to show their support for the Islamic Republic establishment and maintain security and unity in the face of foes, he added.

Dedicated not to forget people’s woes

Qalibaf went on to say that the representatives of people in the parliament are grateful for the people’s participation and guarantee that the problems of the people will not be forgotten.

The legislators will not spare any effort to provide the Iranian nation with tranquility and well-being, the speaker stipulated.

He further referred to the fact that the presidential election was held simultaneous with the sixth round of city and village councils elections, the first mid-term for 11th parliament’s by-election, and the second mid-term for the fifth Assembly of Experts election, urging all elected figures to avoid political and economic hue and cry in order to think only about providing the nation with sincere services.

The speaker also assured that necessary steps have been adopted to implement directions made by the Supreme Leader.

Out of over 59.3 million eligible voters in the 13th presidential election, nearly 29 million took part in the national event.

The 13th presidential election was held nationwide and in 133 countries on June 18.

In separate messages, leaders and high-ranking officials from around the world congratulated Raisi’s victory in the 13th presidential election in Iran.
