Iran wins Asia Pacific Deaf Football Olympic Qualifying Tournament top title

Kish, June 10, IRNA - After defeating Iraq, Iran has become the champion of the 2022 Asia Pacific Deaf Football Olympic Qualifying Tournament to be held in Brazil.

The final match of the selected competitions of Asia and the Pacific was held between Iran and Iraq today on Thursday at the Olympics stadium in the Persian Gulf island of Kish with Iran beating its traditional rival Iraq at the end of games.

The national teams of Uzbekistan and South Korea also met at the same time in the second sports field of the Kish Olympics.

In these competitions, Iran became the champion, Iraq the runner-up, Uzbekistan and Korea, the third and fourth teams respectively to qualify for the 2022 Olympics in Brazil.

The selected competitions of deaf football in Asia and the Pacific started at 6 pm on Wednesday, June 2th with the participation of the top seven teams from these regions on Kish Island.

Nine teams had registered for 2021 Asia Pacific Deaf Football Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

2021 Deaf Football Olympic Qualifying tournament in Asia Pacific region was held in Iran, Kish Island (June 1-11) and 7 Asian teams tried to earn 2022 deaflympic spot.

Iran, South Korea, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Iraq and Malaysia were 7 teams which participate in the event.

The best teams will qualify to 2021 Deaflympics in Caxias do Sul, Brazil (01 May 2022 to 15 May 2022).

Kish Island has a population of 43,000 and is located 18 km from the west coast of Iran.

The island has long been a destination for tourists and trade and economic activists due to its strategic location, unique beauty and comprehensive economic and tourism development, and has always been one of the most important free zones in the country.
