The United World Games had shortlisted 9 athletes as nominees for the best player among whom was Alipour.
The World Games is held every four years. The 2017 edition of the event was held in Poland during which Iran’s Alipour received a gold medal and was also named as the best player.
Alipour has 5.57 second record of world games and 5.48 second record of world championships.
Choosing the best athlete of the year was done by the users of the World Games official website. Alipour was elected the best in the second round of the voting.
He also carries the title of Usain Bolt of speed climbing. Usain St Leo Bolt is a Jamaican sprinter. He is the first person to hold both the 100 meters and 200 meters world records since fully automatic time became mandatory.
