Colonel Rasoul Heidari made the remarks on the occasion of Iran’s Natioanl Army Day which was held on Tuesday.
Heidari pointed to the role of Iran’s Army in the region, saying that any government requires powerful and organized armed forces to maintain independence, security and territorial integrity.
Iran has never been after aggression, but it is always on alert.
Tehran has always announced that bolstering Iran’s armed forces’ defense power just aims at defending the country and it would never be used against any country, he said.
Islamic Republic of Iran aims to maintain peace, security, legitimate authority, defending national interests and rights and helping the oppressed people of the region and the world, he noted.
