Beijing, Jan 6, IRNA – IRI Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast was quoted here Friday as saying in an interview with Xinhua Iran favors solving Syrian issue through national dialogue and free from foreign intervention.

According to IRNA Audiovisual Service, Mehmanparast added in his interview with the official China news agency, “Tehran believes the Syrian issue is totally an internal matter and it is merely the Syrian government and people that should decide over the matter.”

The Spokesman of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ministry of Foreign Affairs added, “We are opposed to foreign intervention in Syria, but every country in the world can assist in establishing a constructive dialogue between the Syrian government and that country’s people.”

Xinhua reiterated that Mehmanparast does not think that the reforms issue in Syria is out of question, although he says that a group of the Syrian people might be deeply displeased with the Syrian government’s policies, and unconvinced by President Bashar al-Assad’s vow to proceed with the political and social reforms.

Further quoting Mehmanparast, the Chinese news agency wrote, “There are groups that are resorting to terrorist acts in Syria today, intending to display a chaotic and instable image of Syria today.”

The Iranian diplomat accused the United States of Israel of resorting to various scenarios for intervention in Syria’s internal affairs.

He said, “The US and the Zionist regime resort to various means, including their espionage possibilities in various countries aimed at creating problems for the independent countries, and for instance we can refer to the US drones which are sent for espionage purposes over the airspace of various countries.”

The Xinhua further quotes the spokesman of the IRI foreign diplomacy as saying, “The Americans know that Iran has thus far seized the control of several drones of theirs, and we will in near future put them on public display.”

Answering a question on sanctions, he added, “The western imposed sanction and the hard currency fluctuations in Iran are two quite unrelated issues, although some people with political intentions try to link the two issues, pretending that the western sanctions have seriously affected and endangered the Iranian economy.”

Mehmanparast said, “That is not true though. Some of those sanctions, as you know are potential, and not yet implemented. How could they have such effects on the Iranian economy, as increasing the price of the hard currency?”

The Xinhua also asked the IRI Foreign Ministry spokesman about Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Plant. He replied, “The BNP is active now, working at 50% of its nominal capacity. Numerous tests have been conducted on it and by the end of the current Iranian year (1390, ending on March 20th, 2012) it would be functioning at full capacity, which is producing 1,000 megawatts of electricity.

In related news here Friday, Senior Advisor of the Iranian Supreme Leader for International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati praised Syria's resistance against enemies' plots and conspiracies, and said certain states are striving hard to weaken Damascus as a main arm of resistance against the Zionist regime.

'The chain of resistance against Israel by Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, the new Iraqi government and Hamas passes through the Syrian highway,' Velayati said, addressing a conference in Isfahan city dubbed 'Islamic Awakening and the Role of Universities'.

'Syria is the golden ring of the chain of resistance against Israel,' he added.

Velayati also reiterated that any possible problem which leads to the collapse of Syria will be a blow to the aforementioned countries and resistance groups as well.

Many political analysts had earlier warned about the enemies' attempts to create problems in Syria for its resistance against the US and the Zionist regime.

'Enemies intend to weaken Syria to cut this main arm of resistance in the region, but they will certainly fail in their efforts,' Secretary-General of Lebanon's Al-Tauhid Al-Arabi Party Wiam Wahab said in November.

Also in the same month, a senior figure of the Lebanese Hezbollah Movement had praised the resistance and wisdom shown by Syria against the US plots and schemes.

A conspiracy is underway against Syria but the country has powerfully resisted the US plots, Head of Hezbollah Sharia Board Sheikh Mohammed Yazbek said.

Yazbek further referred to the popular uprisings in the Arab and Islamic states in recent months, and added that Arab Spring means spring of resistance and uniting efforts against the US plots.
