Taft's unique herbal drinks

Tehran, July 9, IRNA -- Everybody knows about the benefits and healing powers of herbal drinks.

Thursday edition of the English language newspaper Iran Daily wrote that Iranians, particularly those residing in desert cities quench their thirst by drinking herbal drinks.

Taft in the central province of Yazd is known for its pomegranates, rosewater and herbal drinks, in light of its favorable climatic conditions and mountainous regions.

Mohammad Reza Zare', the head of Taft Agricultural Jihad Department, said over 450 tons of rosewater and 3,000 tons of herbal drinks are produced in the city.

"Taft account for 80 percent of the province's rosewater and herbal drink out put," he said.

Zare' put the area under cultivation of Damask rose at 150 hectares, which produce three tons of Damask rose.

"Four industrial and semi-industrial units and 60 traditional units in the regions of Dehbala and Tezerjan are involved in extraction of rosewater and herbal drinks," he said.

Zare' said Taft's herbal drinks are even sought by customers from outside the province.
