The Islamic resistance will only accept a proposal for a ceasefire with the Zionist regime that would lead to the full cessation of hostilities and withdrawal of all Israeli forces from Gaza, Khaled al-Batsh, a member of the politburo of the Islamic Jihad, said on Wednesday.
“The condition of the resistance for a ceasefire with the Zionist regime is that it must be comprehensive and sustainable,” he added.
The resistance movement Hamas has responded to a ceasefire plan for Gaza, sent last week by Qatari and Egyptian mediators.
Under the ceasefire proposal, the Israeli onslaught on Gaza would stop and Israeli forces would withdraw completely. The plan also covers other issues such as humanitarian assistance, reconstruction of Gaza and exchange of prisoners and captives.
“The US, Egypt and Qatar, and possibly Russia and Turkiye, will be the guarantors of any ceasefire in Gaza,” the Islamic Jihad official noted.
