Iran, Saudi Arabia call for sharing experiences on environment issues

Tehran, IRNA – The head of Iran’s Department of Environment says Iran and Saudi Arabia possess great potentials in the field of environmental protection that they should share now that the two countries have resumed their diplomatic relations.

Ali Salajegheh said on Monday in a meeting with Saudi Arabia National Center for Meteorology (NCM) CEO, Ayman bin Salem Ghulamthat that the two countries are both affected by sand and dust storms, adding that Iranians living in Sistan and Baluchestan province are particularly affected by the issue.

Emphasizing the importance of cooperation between Iran and Saudi Arabia to solve environment problems, Selajegheh said, adding that the two countries should work together to tackle sea pollution and other issues.

Ghulamthat, for his part, said that Saudi Arabia is also determined to take action to control sand and dust storms that have affected countries in the region.
