Right after reports emerged from efforts to restore diplomatic ties between Iran and Egypt, the Israeli envoys secretly traveled to Cairo to force authorities in the Arab country to change their mind, according to a Wednesday report by the Palestinian news agency Shehab which cited information from Yedioth Ahronoth.
Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian had indicated a few days ago that Iran and Egypt could restore their ties after decades.
“We have always welcomed the development of relations between Tehran and Cairo," Amirabdollahian said in an interview with the IRNA published earlier this week.
“Heads of our missions – interests sections – in Tehran and Cairo have (held) good meetings. There is good access to the authorities of both countries," he said.
