Raisi admin. increases oil export despite sanctions: MP

Tehran, IRNA – The increase in export and the new record in producing crude oil despite the economic sanctions on Iran are among the achievements of the Raisi administration, an Iranian lawmaker said.

Hossein Hosseinzadeh told IRNA on Thursday that the 13th administration of the Islamic Republic has had a unique success in energy diplomacy; it could sell significant export of oil despite sanctions and restrictions.

The member of the energy commission of the Iranian parliament went on to say that the administration succeeded in increasing the level of oil sales to the highest since 2018.

According to a report by the oil minister, Iran sold 190 million barrels in 11 months (March 21, 2022, to February 19, 2023), the legislator said, noting that this amount is around 83 million barrels more than the oil sale in the same period the year before (1400).

The gas export statistics also indicate that export of the energy increased by 15 percent and the administration could reach 6.5 billion dollars in the sale of LPG, Hosseinzadeh added.

He also said that the oil production declined to two million bpd in 2020, but it increased to 2.76 million bpd in 2022.

The administration utilized different methods to create new markets in order to improve oil and gas export, the member of parliament noted, adding that the adoption of energy diplomacy by the administration helped increase the number of customers of Iran’s oil, which enhanced the country’s oil revenue.

The oil minister of Iran paid various visits to other countries such as Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and a number of Latin American states to strengthen energy cooperation, he concluded.
