During a telephone conversation on Thursday, Amirabdollahian and Schallenberg held talks over mutual ties.
Referring to the significance of diplomacy and talks, Amirabdollahian hailed any constructive Austrian initiative on the path of proper understanding of developments.
The top Iranian diplomat thanked Austria for hosting Vienna during the talks to lift sanctions.
Recalling Iran and Austria’s various fields of cooperation, including in the field of medicine, Amirabdollahian urged the expansion of bilateral cooperation.
Pointing to the developments in Ukraine, he expressed hope for an acceleration in the process of ending the war, as the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran firmly rejects any participation in the Ukraine war.
He further noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly called on the Ukrainian authorities to provide convincing evidence for the claim of the presence of Iranian drones in the war.
Schallenberg, for his part, congratulated the Iranian New Year, Nowruz, to the people and government.
While welcoming the agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia, he described it as a step to reduce tensions in the region.
He also regretted the conditions created in the relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Europe, expressing hope that positive dynamism will be created in those relations by removing the obstacles.
Consular issues were also discussed during the telephone conversation.
