Iran: Claimed attack on Duma based on unauthorized sources, ignores Syria's stands

New York, IRNA – Iran's permanent ambassador at UN said that Inquiry and Investigation Team (IIT) of Chemical Weapons Ban on January 27th, 2023, report, like its previous reports is based on unauthorized sources, ignoring Syria's stands, and lacks legal deduction.

Amir-Saeed Iravani who was speaking on Tuesday, local time, at the UN Security Council about the chemical dossier of Syria, said, "Iran, as a victim of the usage of chemical weapons in contemporary history strongly condemns using chemical weapons in any place and by anyone. Using such weapons, like the other types of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) equals crime against mankind and breaching of the human rights."

The senior Iranian diplomat further reiterated that using chemical weapons is the source of great tragedies, because our people have experienced their destructive effects directly. During the war imposed by Saddam's regime against Iran, some western countries with their silence, or with their direct involvement in Saddam's systematic use of the chemical weapons against the Iranians, supported his nasty move for political reasons.

He added that now too, the same countries are manipulating the reports of the Chemical Weapons Ban Treaty report and those of its subsidiary organization again for political reasons against Syria.
