Russia terms launching Khayyam satellite as prelude to further space cooperation with Iran

Kish, IRNA – Russian Space Agency chief Yury Borisov said on Tuesday that the successful launching of the Iranian Khayyam satellite with joint cooperation of Iran and Russia was a prelude to further expansion of space cooperation between the two countries.

The Russian official made the remarks speaking at the opening ceremony of Iran Airshow 2022 in Kish Island, southern Iran.

Referring to historical relations between Iran and the Russian Federation, he said that this exhibition provides an exemplary chance for getting more familiar with Russia’s space technology.

He noted that the Russian Space Agency welcomes negotiations with the Iranian sides so as to share experiences on space industry.

The 11th edition of Iran Airshow, which opened today, will run until December 16.

Some 90 companies from Iran, Russia, China, Ethiopia and other countries will put on display their latest aerospace achievements in the event.
