Tehran, IRNA – The following headlines appeared in English-language newspapers in the Iranian capital on Monday, November 14, 2022:

** IRNA DAILY

-- Only two countries possess New Bavar-373 missile system tech capability: Army chief

Army chief Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi on Sunday hailed the upgraded Bavar-373 (Belief-373) surface-to-air missile system as a “great achievement”, saying the battery has new features that only two countries have been able to develop.

The new generation of the missile system, which was unveiled on November 5, can destroy targets including ballistic missiles, fighter jets, bombers and drones, at 300 kilometers – 100 kilometers higher than the old version.

-- Seoul should pay its debts quickly regardless of JCPOA talks: Iranian MPs

He said under the situation where the Koreans make excuses to pay Iran’s debts, the best solution is clearing or barter mechanism.
The lawmaker added that, “A part of the exchanges between Iran and Korea is currently carried out using barter mechanism. This type of exchange can also be done regarding the payment of Iran’s debts, and the Koreans can exchange goods with Iran, including basic goods, medicine and livestock feeds, in exchange for their debt.”

-- Iran’s household gas usage up 33%: NIGC

 The National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said gas consumption by households jumped 33% in the week to November 11 with a four-degree drop in average temperature in the country.
An official from NIGC’s dispatching control operations said that daily gas usage by Iranian households reached a total of 400 million cubic meters (mcm) on Friday, up from 300 mcm reported on November 4.
Gholamreza Koushki said that gas usage by businesses had also increased to 65 mcm on Friday. He did not elaborate on usage by power plants and industries in the country.
Temperatures approached 10 degree of centigrade in the capital Tehran last week, forcing many houses to turn on their heating systems.

The Islamic Republic’s vigorous efforts to disentangle its economic growth from the hamstrung JCPOA and its illegally frozen multibillion dollar assets by the ever-increasing sanctions of a frustrated US regime, is paying dividends as its rapidly expanding trade ties bring in far greater revenues.

The countries of the region aware of the ground realities in Iran where stability prevails nationwide, providing safe and secure investment opportunities along with the shortest transit routes for international trade, have brushed aside the false narratives of the malevolent western regimes of a turmoil they tried to create but failed miserably, thanks to the multimillion-strong masses’ snubbing of the thugs, terrorists, and traitors.

-- Iran, Venezuela Convene Economic Cooperation Meeting in Tehran

 The ninth meeting of Iran-Venezuela Economic Cooperation Joint Commission kicked off in Tehran on Sunday.
The commission meeting, chaired by Defense Minister of Iran Brigadier General Muhammad Reza Ashtiani and attended by senior Iranian and Venezuelan officials, is focusing on ways to enhance the economic and trade relations between the two countries.
In comments at the meeting, Brigadier General Ashtiani said the ties between Iran and Venezuela have been growing constantly in recent years in accordance with a 20-year road map to the promotion of relations.

-- Iranian Shooter Shahi Secures 2024 Paralympics Berth

Nasrin Shahi of Iran secured berth for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. Turkey’s Aysel Ozgan won the gold medal in the thrilling P2 - women’s 10m air pistol SH1 finals held at the Al Ain 2022 World Championships.
Ozgan finished with 233.1 for the gold medal followed by Shahi on 230.9 points. Hungary’s Krisztina David settled for a bronze with 211.6 points.

The remarks by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev about a major portion of the Iranian population have caused a political uproar that is likely to lead to serious diplomatic repercussions for Tehran-Baku relations. 

Azerbaijani officials and media have long sought to resort to insinuations and innuendoes when referring to Iran’s Azerbaijani citizens due to the sensitivity of the matter. There has always been an undertone of meddling in this regard. But Baku used to rein in its ethnically-based revanchism and put the frequently-referred-to issue of Azerbaijanis living abroad on the shelf. 

-- IRISL sets up offices in India to facilitate activities

- The Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) has opened representative offices in various regions of India in order to facilitate shipping activities along the International North-South Transit Corridor (INSTC), Mehr News Agency reported.

As reported, IRISL will ship India’s export products that have been transported from the east via railway to the western ports of the country, to deliver them to Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) markets.

-- Tepe Rivi: archaeologists digging site previously yielded relics from Bronze age to Islamic era

Archaeologists have commenced work on Tepe Rivi, a rich excavation site in northeast Iran, which previously yielded relics and ruins dating from the Bronze Age to the early Islamic period.

Up to the moment, nine seasons of archaeology have been carried out on the site, of which seven were conducted by joint Iranian and German experts, North Khorasan province’s tourism chief said on Saturday.

“Based on archeological evidence, Ravi is one of the most important historical sites in the northeast of the country, where determined archaeological research can help improve our understanding of the historical identity of the region and develop tourism in North Khorasan,” Mohammadreza Qahremanian said.
