Spox slams Biden’s anti-Iranian comments in Mideast tour

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman said that the comment made by the US President Joe Biden during his Middle East trip were unfounded and in line with Washington’s escalatory policies in the region.

In a statement on Sunday, Nasser Kanaani highlighted the US’ record of being the first country to use a nuclear bomb, constantly interfering with the internal affairs of other countries, committing occupation and invasion, mass selling of arms, and spreading militarism in the region.

The US once again is seeking to inflict tensions and create a crisis in the region through the failed policy of Iranophobia, Kanaani said.

The spokesman underscored decades of Washington's unlimited, blind support for the Zionist regime, noting that the US, undoubtedly, was the main accomplice in the continuation of the occupation of Palestine and the daily crimes committed by the Zionist regime against Palestinians and the apartheid and systematic violation of human rights.

Iran uses nuclear technology peacefully in the framework of international rules and regulations and is committed to the continuation of the talks to remove sanctions, he underlined.

Kanaani maintained that the US’ false allegations against Iran’s nuclear program and its negligence of the Zionist regime’s decades of deception as a non-member of NPT with the largest nuclear stockpile in the region were a big sign of Washington’s hypocrisy.

Stressing Iran’s principal policy of embracing dialog with neighboring countries and intraregional initiatives, the spokesman added that Tehran expects countries in the region to accept Iran’s invitation to take constructive steps towards collective security, peace, stability, and joint development.
