Spokesman and Deputy Director of the Foreign Ministry Information Department of China Zhao Lijian underlined that the nuclear deal guarantees the common interests of the international community.
The Chinese diplomat referred to the recent indirect negotiations between American and Iranian negotiators in the Qatari capital Doha, expressing hope that the US and Iran will continue diplomatic efforts to find a joint understanding on remaining issues in order to remove obstacles in the way of full compliance to the JCPOA.
The US as the country that created the nuclear issue, should make amend its mistakes and react to legal concerns of the Islamic Republic of Iran actively, he urged.
The United States is expected to try hard to reach conclusions on the revival of the JCPOA as soon as possible, the Chinese diplomat noted.
The indirect talks between the US and Iran were held by the mediation of the European Union on Tuesday and Wednesday in Doha.
Following the indirect negotiations, Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian expressed gratitude to Qatar for hosting the talks in a phone call with his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.
On Saturday, the Iranian FM called on other parties involved in the 2015 Iran nuclear deal to stop their double-standard so that a good and lasting agreement can be reached on the revival of the accord.
The nuclear agreement faced trouble in May 2018 when the Trump administration unilaterally withdrew from the deal and re-imposed sanctions on Iran.
Tehran and the remaining parties, including Russia, China, Britain, France, and Germany, began talks in April 2021 to revive the JCPOA, holding several rounds of negotiations in the Austrian capital Vienna, while the US participated in the negotiations indirectly.
The negotiations, however, have not yet led to an agreement, and Iran blames it on the US, saying that Washington fails to make a political decision.
The Islamic Republic says that the nuclear talks should result in a verifiable removal of the sanctions because the Iranians have complied with their commitments under the JCPOA, but the other sides did not implement any tangible move to pave the way for opening global markets to Iran and provide Iranians with the financial and economic profit of the deal.
