Abbas Moqtadaei, a ranking member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission (NSFPC) in Iran’s Parliament, along with a number of colleagues, met with vice president of Armenia’s Parliament Hakob Arshakyan on Wednesday on the sidelines of the Parliamentary Assembly Council of Collection Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Yerevan.
During the meeting, Moqtadaei said that Armenia has a proper status in Iran’s foreign policy and Tehran has always supported its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He said that the economic diplomacy committee of NSFPC will support expansion of ties with Armenia.
Morteza Mahmoudvand, another Iranian lawmaker in the meeting who heads the water committee of NSFPC, welcomed cooperation with the Armenian parliament on environmental issues, including the Aras River on the border between Iran and Armenia.
Arshakyan expressed content over the growth of parliamentary cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan and its role in relations between the two nations.
He said that Iran has a high status in Armenia’s outlook of relations based on good neighborliness.
