Hugi, the Arab affairs analyst of Israeli army radio Galie-Zahal, has published his analysis in Maariv, one of the major Israeli Hebrew-language dailies.
He believes that Hamas’ warnings against the presence of Israeli settlers at Al-Aqsa Mosque on the occasion of their flag march held on May 29 led to all-out psychological warfare against Israeli security and political bodies.
“Hamas forced Israeli security agencies into a state of high alert by its repeated threats such as playing with fire,” ShahabNews Website cited the Israeli analyst as saying.
Hugi believes that the impact of the Hamas warnings was amplified in light of the Israeli regime’s experience of missiles the movement fired during the 12-Day Gaza war in May 2021.
“Israel was afraid of the last May’s scenario, putting hundreds of soldiers on high alert around the Gaza Strip” and deploying thousands of troops on the streets of Al-Quds, he wrote, adding that the regime’s public security agency increased its readiness to the highest level following Hamas’ warning that it would use "all possibilities" to confront the flag march.
According to Hugi, Hamas leaders mobilized Palestinians in the lead-up to the flag march, making Palestinian flags weaving in the streets as well.
The expert believes that although Hamas does not intend to wage a war, it has managed to take control of affairs.
The movement’s military wing fired several missiles into the sea on the eve the flag march in order to prove that its warnings were serious.
“For years, Hamas has tried to reach this point to easily force Israelis into doing what they do not, something that Hezbollah Leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has been carrying out for years,” the analyst wrote.
