Iran, P4+1 continue intensive diplomatic, expert talks

Vienna, IRNA – The Islamic Republic of Iran and the P4+1 team continue intensive diplomatic and expert discussion on the 15th day of Vienna talks, as the Iranian team just entered Palais Coburg to meet representatives of the JCPOA participants on Thursday afternoon.

The expert meetings are held based on the agreement reached in the last Joint Commission of JCPOA meeting, where participants agreed on prioritizing sanctions removal.

Iran’s top negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani is slated to meet with heads of other delegations later today.

The current round of talks, the eighth, began on December 27, 2021 and all the negotiating teams have acknowledged the talks have been progressive.

Bagheri Kani had a meeting with Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Enrique Mora and another with Mora and E3 representatives yesterday, where sanctions removal, verification and nuclear commitments were discussed.

The third expert working group convened yesterday for the first time in the eighth round of talks to coordination US’ sanctions removal and Iran’s compliance measures. This was a sign of real progress in the talks.

The principle of verification which was a case of disagreement between Iran and E3 has been recognized by the other parties and now they continue to discuss mechanisms to implement it, reports say.
